WoodGuard Maintenance-Free Lumber is standard lumber that is treated with Tim-Bor, a non-toxic wood preservative that protects against dry rot, fungus, mold, and destructive insects like termites. It is then coated in a high-tech plastic blend to completely seal it from the elements.
How is Woodguard™ made?
Woodguard™starts with the finest lumber treated with Timbor™. Unlike common pressure treated lumber which uses cyanide and arsenic, Timbor™is harmless. Next, the treated lumber is coated with a thick, opaque polyethylene skin. This protects the lumber against weathering, rotting, and discoloring.
About the coating....
Woodguard™ is the only coating of the market made with ultra-tech UV (ultra-violet light blockers), which stops color fading and deterioration of the polymer itself. Woodguard™ CO-P2 is our special exclusive blend of two CO-Polymer polyethylene's which when applied under heat and pressure create the toughest most durable finish available. So tough is the finish that it will take a full hammer impact at a -30 degrees without cracking or splitting. Our Woodguard™ CO-P2 finish does not have that shinny hollow plastic look after manufacture.
About our wood
Each Woodguard™ post is carefully manufactured and graded by licensed WWPA inspectors, from spruce, pine or fir lumber. Our post receives Timbor, an exclusive patent pending process that fully protects the post against dry rot and termites throughout its use. Our environmentally friendly exclusive treatment will not leach into the soil, ever, and after coating the Timbor remains sealed in the wood for life. Woodguard also uses OSB (Oriented Strand Board) a structural plywood made up of environmentally friendly fast growth trees that save our old forests. This structural plywood has all the wonderful properties of regular wood without the normal defects found in boards today. It does not warp, twist or split and has no knots that can substantially weaken a board. Each piece of OSB is dried to only 6% moisture so your boards will never shrink. If OSB should ever break, there are no damaging splinters that could injure loved ones. SPF grade of lumber is made up of: Spruce, Pine or FIR and is used in all our structural applications where building codes require. This material is rated either standard and better or #2 or better SPF.
